Mocoa is the capital of the Putumayo region in southern Colombia, nestled between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon Rainforest. Known for its lush landscapes, powerful rivers, waterfalls, and rich biodiversity, it is a place where nature feels alive and deeply restorative.
Mocoa is home to several Indigenous communities and serves as a cultural and spiritual bridge between mountain and jungle traditions. Its vibrant natural energy makes it an ideal setting for healing, introspection, and reconnection with nature.
How to get to us
By Plane
The nearest airport is Villagarzón (VGZ), located approximately 40 minutes from the retreat location.
➡️ Airport pickup is organised exclusively from Villagarzón Airport and included in the retreat.
You may also fly to Puerto Asís (PUU), which has connections from major Colombian cities. From Puerto Asís, participants can travel independently by bus or private taxi to Mocoa (3 hour journey).
We suggest you to travel light but functional, here a few items which will be important during your stay:
Comfortable, lightweight clothing suitable for warm and humid weather.
Long sleeves and trousers for evenings and ceremonies (important).
A warm hoodie or blanket for ceremonies.
A light jacket or raincoat.
Comfortable walking or trekking shoes.
Sandals or flip-flops.
Swimwear (for waterfalls and river visits).
Personal toiletries (preferably natural/biodegradable).
Towel.
Refillable water bottle.
Small backpack for hikes.
Insect repellent and sunscreen (Natural insect repellent available to buy if needed).
Personal medications (with prior disclosure with team).
Journal and pen.
An open heart and respectful intention.

By Bus
There are regular long-distance buses from major cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali to Mocoa. If you are unsure which route is best, our team will be happy to assist you in planning your journey.
Stays outside retreat dates
Stays outside the scheduled retreat periods may be arranged on request, provided participants feel confident traveling independently to the location. During these periods, Mamita Beronica works with smaller groups, offers a quieter experience, and provides limited English support.

Mocoa has a humid tropical climate. Weather can be very rainy, depending on the time of year, and temperatures may feel cooler at night or during heavy rain. We recommend bringing rain protection and warm layers to stay comfortable.
