Kamëntšá Indigenous Medicine Practitioner

Mamita Beronica is an Indigenous healer from the Kamëntšá community of Sibundoy, Putumayo. She comes from a strong lineage of medicine people and was guided from childhood by her father, Taita Pedro Juagibioy, a respected yagesero.

Her connection with yagé began even before birth, as her mother—now 90 years old, a traditional partera and curandera—received the medicine while she was pregnant with her.

Alongside her ancestral roots, Mamita Beronica also pursued formal studies, completing a degree in Physiotherapy at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL) and working several years in the clinical field. This experience gives her a unique blend of biomedical understanding and traditional healing wisdom.

Throughout her life, she has continued to learn from many recognised taitas and mamas, including Mama Concha, Mama Maruja Janjasoy, Mama Vitelia Queta, Taita Aniversario Queta, and Taita Miguel Mavisoy. Their teachings have supported her ongoing growth in yagé medicine.

Today, Mamita Beronica carries forward this rich lineage with humility, offering guidance that weaves together ancestral Amazonian knowledge, clinical insight, and deep spiritual dedication.
